Luxbet Ladies Lunch, Sunday 20 January 2013

Why not join us at the Inglis Horse Sales for lunch.
The men can roam and find that champion race horse while the women look gorgeous on the balcony of the Restaurant.
A special lunch is being organised for us by the Talented Jenny from Top Cat Catering.
Beverage is on consumption at your own cost.
I have ordered some French champagne to be on hand for those interested in indulging.

If you are already a Luxbet member, please let me know as members have been invited to the Luxbet marquee after lunch.
But don't despair, we can organise membership on the day for those that aren't with a special membership deal.

And on the quiet, I am also celebrating my birthday on this day (hence the champagne ready)!!!!
I look forward to your attendance.

Sharon Lenton Events is pleased to bring you another Sunday afternoon event filled with everything a girl wants - fashion, millinery, lunch, champagne and good friends.

The event will see more millinery than ever before. We are holding a millinery competition and are looking for Sydney's finest milliners. We know all our attendees are keen race goers and will warmly welcome milliners to our annual Autumn racing event.

Vibe Hotel, Rushcutters Bay is a sponsor at the Australian Turf Club and we are only too pleased to hold our next function with them. The hotel is very excited to be holding this event and promises to ensure the day is a success.

Our events never goes without crowning the "most elegant woman" on the day and I am sure we will find some racing games to keep you entertained.

Spaces for milliners to enter the competition are strictly limited so it is advisable, if interested, to let me know of your interest. Registration forms will be available in the next week or so. Each milliner is allowed to enter a maximum of 2 head pieces to the competition. Rules apply to the competition.

The judges will be top Fashion on the Field contestants (and winners) who will select the top 10.
We are privileged to have as our Honourary Guest, the Hall of Fame Milliner - Ms Jean Carroll.
Jean is delighted to be involved and will cast her impeccable eye for detail over each piece for her choice as the winner. Head piece ranking in order from 10th place to Winner will all be modelled at the event.

Christy Johns of Sky Channel will also pick a head piece that she will wear to the Autumn Racing Carnival. A special prize will be given to this winning head piece.

Racing NSW Magazine have given us a 2 page spread for their April issue with 1/2 page dedicated to the winning milliner.

As you can see, this will certainly be one event not to be missed.

WOW ladies, we are here again but bigger and more exciting.

With the support of the NSW Racehorse Owners Association, Sky Racing and Luxbet, we are holding a fabulous Sunday afternoon event at the Hughenden Hotel, Woollahra. This beautiful old manor house will set the scene for our "French" theme. It will be exciting to introduce the girls from "the GG Girls" and have the beautiful Victoria Shaw, Australia's only female race caller, as our host.

The day guarantees to be filled with the latest fashion (for fillies and colts) and millinery for Autumn plus we will have some fun racing activities to lead into our magnificant Autumn carnival.

Melbourne Cup

This is the invitation I wait for with pure excitement every year.

The Westin “invitation only”, Melbourne Cup breakfast sponsored by Moet & Chandon, epitomises glamour and style.  The room was filled with spring flowers to set the scene of a garden party returning us to the era of the 1920s.

Not a stone was left unturned at this event - on arrival you were greeted with attentive staff, the men were pinned with their yellow rose; women were immediately encouraged to commence the celebrations with a glass of Moet & Chandon champagne, the food was impeccable and it was smiles and excitement that filled this immaculate room.

The event saw the arrival of Ricki-Lee Coulter (who looked beautiful in a soft metallic one shoulder dress), and our larger than life funny lady, Maria Venutti (wearing her infamous touch of leopard print).

You certainly know that the Melbourne Cup has reached the world with the dominance of the overseas horses.  With these horses brought their international supporters and they certainly enjoyed the Australian hospitality at the Westin Hotel.

After breakfast it is off to the races.

My dear friends Glenn & Vivve Williams own Karuta Queen and so kindly invited me into the enclosure.  Lily (Karuta Queen's stable name) ran a gallant second in Race 5, Schweppes Tonic 1000.

This year we saw the winner of the Melbourne Cup taken out by Dunaden (FR) which came with sadness.  As an admirer of the talented jockey Craig Williams, who was booked to ride Dunaden, unfortunately he was unable to overturn his suspension.  He was replaced with Mikel Delzangles who rode the horse to victory.

As the race day comes to a close it certainly does not mean we do.   With over 30 of us staying at the Stamford on Little Collins you are never short a friend to have a celebratory champagne with.

And a big thank you goes to Pat Lucas who always organises our fabulous table for us at the Flower Drum.
